About Coach Joel

joelI specialize in coaching triathletes and individuals looking to make the move to long-course racing. I have been through USA Triathlon and USA Cycling certifications, but more importantly I’m an athlete myself and I understand the demands of everyday life, working a full-time job, and trying to feed a passion for endurance sports at the same time. I only work with a few athletes at a time so that I can give everyone the attention they deserve. I approach each athlete as an individual – your training and guidance should specifically reflect your personal needs and situation – and base my coaching style on a “quality over quantity” approach tailored to your unique needs and goals that will allow you to train smarter and race faster

I’ve been active in athletics for over 25 years beginning with varsity letters in track and cross country as a freshman in high school.  Since then I have been a competitive age group triathlete and runner for the past 10+ years.   I’ve raced the Boston Marathon (2:53 PR), the inaugural Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida, Ironman Florida (9:34 PR), JFK50 ultramarathon, Ironman Coeur d’Alene, the inaugural Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Inaugural Ironman US Championships in New York City, NY, and the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI just to name a few. I’ve also been a member of a number of highly competitive ultra relays. In 2014 my goal was IM Chattanooga where I managed a PR (9:24) and 4th place in the 40-44 AG, earning another slot for Kona 2015.
